Briggs McIntosh awarded a Wyvern Medal

Matt Watson and Briggs McIntosh at the Queens College

Briggs McIntosh has been awarded an academic achievement award by the University of Melbourne's Queens College.

I was delighted to represent Yiramalay/Wesley Studio School at the University of Melbourne’s Queens College Commencement Dinner in early March, and to personally congratulate our alumnus Brigalow (Briggs) Mcintosh (OW2018).

It was a proud moment seeing Briggs awarded a Wyvern Medal (so named as it has Queens College’s mythical beast on it). Every semester Queens College awards these academic achievement medals to students who have achieved an 80% or over average in four subjects.

The evening was on one of celebration and joy for the entire Queens College community as they saw in the new academic year and congratulated scholarship and award winners.

While it was a celebration for all, for me the highlight was speaking to Briggs, who told me what an amazing opportunity Yiramalay and Wesley had afforded him and that he was only now starting to realise how truly significant its impact on his life.
