From Wangkatjungka, 100 kilometres south-east of Fitzroy Crossing in WA, to the Vogue website, modelling for R E M U S E, it’s been quite a journey for Kahlia Rogers (OW2016). With the support of the Yiramalay/Wesley Studio School Foundation, the young Indigenous woman has pursued a modelling career, signing with Jira and modelling in various locations across Australia, including the 2019 Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair and the 2020 Melbourne Fashion Festival, where she wore garments by Design Within Country, an ongoing collaboration between designers and Kimberley artists. ‘Yiramalay opened up many opportunities and experiences for me,’ Kahlia says. ‘They supported me during my final years of school, while I worked out what I wanted to do in the future. They became my second family.’
